Margaret W. Campbell


Born in Hancock County, Maine, January 16, 1827, Margaret W. Campbell was a leading member of the American Women Suffrage Association.  Mrs. Campbell worked tirelessly for women's voting rights throughout the United States.  These states included Colorado, Iowa, Massachusetts, and Michigan.  She lectured at many events and wrote articles for the movement which were published in various newspapers.  She was accompanied by her husband, John B. Campbell, a painter who sold many of his works to fund their mission.
